| Dr. Khalid Al Sharif is consultant ophthalmologist who is the founder and medical director of the Sharif Eye Centers Medical Group Inc.; a professional corporation dedicated to providing Laser vision correction as well as comprehensive multi-subspecialty eye care in six centers in various cities in the Middle East.
Dr.Sharif completed his ophthalmic residency training at St. Thomas and Guy’s Hospitals in London, followed by further training in Glasgow, Scotland and then did a two years corneal fellowship at Queen Victoria Hospital. He is a Fellow of the Royal Collage of Ophthalmologists (London), and a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Glasgow).
He published a prize winning “Atlas of Corneal Dystrophies and Degenerations” in London. He also has more than one hundred papers and presentations on various cornea and refractive surgery topics.
Dr.Sharif was among the pioneers of Laser refractive surgery in the Middle East. He performed his first PRK in 1992, first LASIK in 1996, and first FemtoLASIK in 2006.
Dr.Sharif was invited to more than 32 countries to give lectures and skill transfer courses on refractive surgery. He also gave lectures as a visiting professor at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary on the same subject.
He served on the editorial board of many ophthalmic journals including Archives of Ophthalmology and The Middle East Journal of Ophthalmology. He is currently on the Examining Board of the fellowship Exam (FRCS)-of the Royal Collage of Physician and Surgeons of Glasgow since 2002. |
